Generally, there are two options available when selecting a track material. These options are:
1 - Polyurethane based systems
2 - Latex based systems
Details regarding each of these systems follow:
POLYURETHANE BASED SYSTEMS
The long-wearing running track surfaces use single and/or two component polyurethane and rubber components to form the actual track surface. We offer the following:
BASIC POLYURETHANE SYSTEM
Black mat machine applied to a 10 mm or 13 mm finished depth |
Final surface comprised of 80% rubber granules and 20% liquid polyurethane binder |
The most commonly specified polyurethane track system for high school and community use |
BASIC PLUS POLYURETHANE SYSTEM
Basic black mat machine applied to a 10 mm depth |
Additional 3 mm top coat of coloured EPDM rubber granules |
Basic Plus system is used primarily for national or regional competitions |

LATEX SYSTEMS
Instead of using expensive polyurethane materials, a latex system employs the more cost-efficient latex binder with rubber granules.
Recent polyresin technology advancement incorporate environmentally safe water based resins which meet the rigorous athletic standards set by the International Amateur Athletic Federation |
Latex track systems are quickly becoming a popular alternative to polyurethane systems |
Surface finishes are available in a wide range of colours |
